The production of colored leads
Colored leads consist of color pigments, fats, waxes, binders and mineral fillers such as talcum or finely ground kaolin. The quality depends on the fineness of the ground material and the proportion and quality of the pigments (a high proportion leads to a higher quality and a better color spread).
- The ground material is carefully mixed together
- After mixing, the lead shape is pressed and cut to the right length.
- The colored leads are then air-dried.
- The leads are also given a hot grease bath to improve their gliding properties.
